Nappy White Kid...
Grimy...
Old School Honor Roll...
Soon one of these names will mean alot more.
Keep your eyes peeled for updates.
Now to the weekend.
Though my dermatologist may think that 2 days no sunscreen and 37 holes of golf is alot, and it is. I spent this Father's day weekend with my dad out at Torrey Pines, watching what sports writers are calling possibly the greatest golf tournament ever. Sunday we placed ourselves with some friends at the turn before going into my company's corporate booth, eating, and getting some necessities for the rest of the afternoon (to-go Beers and ice cream). We found a spot around the 18th green, and watched as Tiger Woods birdied 18 and double fist pumped his way to a 18 hole Monday playoff with the crowd favorite Rocco Mediate.
Monday I stopped into work, checked my email, and quickly called my father to wake up. I headed back down to PB to pick him up and spent the second straight day wandering around Torrey Pines, we claimed the same spot by the green on 9 and 18 but this time we also congregated around the 10th 14th and 15th, while watching every other shot huddled around whatever neighbor had the little American Express TV. The feeling on the course that day was electric and there is no good way to describe it here in my blog.
As a tribute to father's day and how sometimes we blindly follow what our father's say,
I was tricked this weekend into not caring that B.B. King will be at the fair thursday because acorrding to my father, B.B. King was dead, well actually my dad was dead wrong B.B. is alive and kicking coming off a show at the most recent Bonnaroo, however another musical great, Bo Diddley, had in fact passed on.
So to Honor Bo, I leave you with a few memories of his career musical
So Since this week has been entirely Coachella based I figured that I would give you a few updates.
1. I will be at Coachella Tomorrow through Sunday so if you need me call the phone... If I pick it up cool.
2. Me and the music that I listen to can be followed via Utterz and my Twitter account... twitter sn: jguiney
3. Thank you all for voting bc my graph made it on the front page this morning on Graphjam, so thanks again for helping spread the Johntourage across cyberspace.
And now since I have tried everything in my power today to downplay the Coachella experience that starts once I leave work.
Peace.
I'm out.
So I know its alittle late today but, never fear I am here to post.
I think i'm going to spend this blog enlightening people on what to see this Friday at Coachella.
Now the lineup is out and Friday has a few BIG names getting ready to show off their stuff in the Desert.
So if you're like me and don't really want to spend the evening at an acoustic jam fest hosted by Jack Johnson, I will probably see a song or 2 so I'm not a complete hater, here are a few bancs that would be amped if you checked out their show.
Spank Rock - playing at the GOBI tent This Philadelphia guy will give you Techno fused Hip Hop and keep the Party jumping with lines like. " I work to hard to waste my shit/ on skinny ass chic with some "A" cup tits. I'm anorexic vegan Bitch/ if I aint seein' D's I ain't seein shit. " Spank Rock will have en Shakin' That before you make them drip sweat.
Dan Le Sac & Scroobius Pip- playing the Gobi Tent - reminds me of The Streets. UK rap duo making their only US tour dates. check their Myspace. Mellow, hip hop with hard repetitive beats.
Aesop Rock - aka Ace Rock - is an America Indie Hip Hop artist. Hailing from New York, Aesop bring his unique brand of hip hop, including tracks "No Regrets," "None Shall Pass," and "Fast Cars Danger Fire and Knives"
I could go on for a while about The Black Lips, aphexTwin, and Diplo but this post is getting long so check them all out here
So I was slacking today, not only am I still really amped for Coachella and reworking a project that I did yesterday, but now that I have finished that Miss Vista Program I can spend extra time doing what I love best...
Planning the MAY 10th 2nd Annual John Guiney Urban Golf Pub Crawl, it will be played on the same course as last years and wil be just as nuts. There may be sligh changes to the 7th 8th or 9th hole.
So in the spirit of this Week more Coachella news, I admit today i have been slacking by listening to Blu.
But I guess I should get back to caring about artists who are going to be at Coachella so for the afternoon, it looks like I will get my hiphop fix and put on my pandora Murs station.
Tomorrow and Thursday are indie Rock and Euro Techno days By Friday I will be ready. Oh and if your gunna be at the Fest send me message and we'll try to get up.
So it's Monday...WOOO yeah... YIppie, no seriously its Monday 4/21. Does anyone want to be at work today.
Anyone? So I completely "slept" on Earth Day yesterday, well no I didn't I knew it was happening, I got outside and walked around. I made sure not to drive, and I watched the Defenseless Nuggets lose game 1.
Oh and I starting making preparations for Coachella.
The Johntourage will be the official home of all of my Coachella News, Also be sure to follow this or my twitter as I promise at least one exclusive Song a day from Coachella.
Today as I spend my morning in repetitive photoshop hell, I am listening to the Media Player .
Portis heads - Sour Times just came on and can anyone tell me what song uses this sample bc now thats all that I can think about.
but in order to get ready for Coachella today I'm listening for all to all the bands from Metric to Spank rock skipping only Serj Tankian, bc well I don't like em.
Ok so here is a new weekly update.. Every Tuesday, (I know thought You Knew Thursday sounds better but I had to start it today)
Once a week I'll dig back in the Best of The Week Archives and make sure your all up on the same level as me.
So to start it off since this was the lightning in a bottle that started the whole "Thought-You-Knew"- thing.
My brother sent me this in like October... and last night Zach, Rachel, and Adam popped their Weng Weng Cherry.
So I'm sittin' in my cube bouncin' my head to the same old itunes, when I realized that I haven't been to Pandora laterly. For those that don't know, Pandora is an amazing streaming audio site that gets through most firewalls. Heres how it works.
1) You sign in:
2) Choose an artist or song and then
3) VOALA! The computer picks songs in the same genre with similar traits.
If you want to be more in depth you can rank each song with a thumbs up or down to customize your station, or just let it play.
After you take my advice and sign up for Pandora, you can check out your friends via email address and pilfer their stations... here if you want a sweet Digital Underground (West Coast Rap, Funk Influence, w/ Party Beats) Station find me... jguiney@yahoo.com.
